A Bug in the Ear

Yesterday I was so tired. I didn't do much of anything and even took a nap.

I went to bed early and got up at 5:40 this morning and hit the pool. I swam 1500 yards. Actually, I really hope I counted wrong because it took about 35 minutes. I felt good swimming and think my form has really improved. Looking forward to swim class in January and getting the coach's input.

Once I got to work, I got a call from JT. He ran Huntsville this weekend too. He also had a disappointing run. He put a bug in my ear. A marathon in Jackson, Mississippi January 5th. A chance to redeem myself. I KNOW I am in the best shape of my life. But another marathon in a month. Is it possible?

Training for the Gulf Coast Half Iron officially starts Dec 23rd. I am not planning on starting until January 1st. December is suppose to be my recovery. IMFL is the focus for 08. But is it possible???

First and foremost, CONGRATS on finishing another marathon. I know you guys trained so hard and were hoping for sub-4 but you should still be proud to put another one under your belt--just think of all the base for IMFL!

As far as the January 'thon...I know that so many of my buddies were disappointed after the disaster in Chicago this year. They turned around and signed up for Grand Rapids a few weeks later (2 or 3 I think?) Almost every single one PR'd and one BQ'd. So it's definitely possible...but only you know if it fits into your life schedule at the present time. Good luck with the decision--I'm rooting for ya!

Interesting.... I wasn't aware of the Jackson race. Last night I did look at the Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham, February 10. I might be interested.

Wow! You definitely have the marathon bug. I would recommend a cure-all for it - run another marathon. :D

What fun! It will be fun to see what you decide.

Sure it's possible! But it depends on how fast you're able to recover. I've used Hal Higdon's multiple marathon training programs to run marathons 1-4 weeks apart many times in the past. Good luck!!!

If you're not injured, go for it.
